Chocolate Cookie Mix In A Jar Recipe
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour

Fill a clean wide mouth canning jar with 2 1/4 cups flour. Layer over the top of that, 1/4 cup baking cocoa. Finally, layer 1 cup of brown sugar. There's no need to pack it, there is plenty of room. Attach a tin cookie cutter and the gift tag with the instructions for baking. Cover the mouth of the jar with a round of bright calico and screw on the canning ring.

Chocolate Cookies Baking Instructions:

Empty the contents of the jar into a mixing bowl and blend the dry ingredients together. In another bowl, cream together 1 scant cup of butter, 1 egg, and 1 tsp. vanilla, plus 1 tsp. water. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet. The dough should be soft but not sticky. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight. Roll out on a lightly floured board and cut as desired. Bake at 350°F for approximately 10 minutes.
