Granny's Chocolate Pie Recipe
1 cup sugar
3 T. plain flour
1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
Stir the above together until smooth.
1/2 stick butter (melted)
3 egg yolks (beaten)
1 1/4 c. (scant) milk
Stir just enough milk into cocoa mixture to make a paste. Then add butter and eggs. Add remaining milk. Cook until thick.
Pour into a prepared pie crust. Top with meringue and bake at 350°F until meringue is just beginning to brown.
Meringue:
3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
6 Tbsp. sugar
vanilla to taste
Whisk egg whites and cream of tartar together until egg whites are beginning to peak. Add sugar and vanilla and beat until the
consistency you desire.
